registered agent
Official service recipient
A registered agent is a person or business designated to receive legal documents on behalf of a company—lawsuits, government notices, tax forms.
Most states require corporations and LLCs to maintain a registered agent with a physical address in the state where the business is incorporated: We use a service as our registered agent in Delaware.
Also called a statutory agent or resident agent.
