command training
Teaching animal compliance
Command training is the process of teaching a dog or other animal to respond to specific verbal cues or hand signals.
The goal is reliable obedience—sit, stay, come, heel—on command rather than at the animal's whim.
We enrolled the puppy in a six-week command training class.
The term occasionally extends to human contexts, describing instruction in giving or following orders within military or organizational hierarchies.
