colorpoint
Dark-tipped cat coat
Colorpoint describes a coat pattern in cats where the body is pale while the face, ears, paws, and tail show darker coloring.
The pattern results from temperature-sensitive pigmentation—cooler extremities develop more color.
Siamese cats are the classic example: a seal colorpoint with chocolate markings.
The term appears in breed standards and cat fancy terminology.
