coöperate

Join forces willingly

Coöperate is an older spelling of cooperate, using a diaeresis (the two dots over the second o) to signal that both vowels should be pronounced separately rather than as a single sound.

The *New Yorker* famously retains this spelling.

The meaning is identical: to work together toward a common purpose.
