chrominance
Hue and saturation
Chrominance is the color information in a video or image signal, as distinct from luminance (brightness).
Technical systems often separate these components because the human eye is more sensitive to brightness than color detail, allowing color data to be compressed more heavily without noticeable quality loss: The chrominance channels were downsampled to reduce file size.
