chivalrous
Like a knight
Chivalrous describes conduct associated with the medieval code of knighthood—brave, honorable, and courteous, especially toward women.
A chivalrous man opens doors, offers his coat, or stands when a woman enters.
The term can carry a whiff of old-fashioned gender roles: His chivalrous gesture felt patronizing to her.
More broadly, chivalrous applies to any gallant or magnanimous behavior: a chivalrous offer to let the opponent rest before continuing.
