rude

Not at all courteous

Rude describes behavior that violates social expectations of politeness or respect: Don't be rude to the waiter.

A rude awakening is an unpleasant surprise that shatters comfortable assumptions.

Rude can also mean primitive or roughly made: a rude shelter.

In older usage, rude meant unrefined or uncultured—this sense survives mainly in literary contexts.
