checkweigher
Inline weighing device
A checkweigher is a machine that automatically weighs products on a production line to verify they meet specified weight requirements.
Items falling outside acceptable limits are rejected or diverted.
The term also refers to a person—historically common in coal mining—who verifies weights on behalf of workers to ensure fair payment: The miners elected their own checkweigher.
