spring scale
Tension-based measurer
A spring scale is a device that measures weight by how much a spring stretches or compresses under load.
The object hangs from a hook, and the spring's extension moves a pointer along a calibrated dial: The fisherman checked his catch on a spring scale.
Common in kitchens, fishing, and science classrooms where digital scales haven't replaced them.
