cat hole
Dug camping privy
A cat hole is a small hole dug in the ground to bury human waste when camping or hiking in areas without toilet facilities.
The standard practice is six to eight inches deep, away from water sources and trails.
Dig a cat hole at least 200 feet from the stream.
The term comes from the burying behavior of cats.
