carrion beetles
Nature's burial crew
Carrion beetles are insects that feed on dead animals.
They play an essential role in decomposition, breaking down carcasses and recycling nutrients back into the soil.
Some species bury small corpses to provide food for their larvae.
The name applies to several beetle families, particularly Silphidae: Carrion beetles had already found the roadkill.
