capsulectomy
Scar tissue surgery
Capsulectomy is the surgical removal of a capsule—typically the fibrous tissue that forms around a breast implant.
The body naturally creates this scar tissue envelope around any foreign object.
When the capsule hardens or causes pain, capsulectomy removes it along with or separately from the implant itself: She underwent capsulectomy after developing capsular contracture.
