fibrotic
Stiffened by scarring
Fibrotic describes tissue that has undergone fibrosis—the thickening and scarring that results from excessive connective tissue formation.
Fibrotic tissue replaces normal tissue after injury or chronic inflammation, impairing organ function: fibrotic lung disease, fibrotic changes in the liver.
The term appears almost exclusively in medical contexts.
