caber toss
Scottish pole event
The caber toss is a Scottish athletic event in which competitors throw a long wooden pole end over end.
The caber—a tapered log typically fifteen to twenty feet long—is balanced upright, then heaved so it flips and lands pointing away from the thrower.
Accuracy of the flip matters more than distance.
The event is a centerpiece of Highland games.
