Olympic events
Games for gold
Olympic events are the individual sports competitions that make up the Olympic Games.
Some events have been fixtures since ancient Greece—running, wrestling, discus—while others rotate in and out: Baseball was dropped after 2008 but returned in 2020.
The phrase sometimes appears figuratively for any set of demanding challenges: My morning routine is like five Olympic events.
