burnoff
Morning mist dissipating
Burnoff is the controlled burning of vegetation, fuel, or other material.
Farmers and land managers conduct burnoffs to clear fields, reduce wildfire risk, or promote new growth.
In broadcasting, a burnoff is when a network airs remaining episodes of a cancelled show, often in unfavorable time slots: They're just burning off the last few episodes at midnight.
The word also describes the dissipation of morning fog as temperatures rise.
