burled
Having woody knots
Burled describes wood that has burls—rounded, swirling growths in the grain caused by abnormal cell development in trees.
Burled wood is prized for its distinctive patterns and used in fine furniture and decorative veneering: a burled walnut dashboard, The antique desk had a beautiful burled finish.
The irregular grain makes burled pieces difficult to work but visually striking.
