counter-surveillance
Detecting hidden observers
Counter-surveillance is the practice of detecting, evading, or preventing surveillance.
Someone who suspects they're being watched or followed might employ counter-surveillance techniques—checking for tails, sweeping for bugs, or varying their routine.
The term appears in spy fiction and in discussions of privacy rights: She took a counter-surveillance course after the stalking began.
