bronc buster

Wild horse tamer

A bronc buster is someone who breaks wild horses, training them to accept a rider.

The term comes from the American West, where bronc (from Spanish bronco, meaning rough or wild) refers to an unbroken horse.

Bronc busters were essential figures on ranches and later became icons of rodeo culture: He worked as a bronc buster before joining the circuit.
