book-burner

Destroys written works

A book-burner is someone who burns books, typically to suppress ideas deemed dangerous, immoral, or heretical.

The term is almost always pejorative, evoking Nazi bonfires of 1933 and similar acts of ideological censorship.

It extends figuratively to anyone who would silence or destroy intellectual work: The school board members were called book-burners for removing novels from the library.
