blue lips
Sign of cold
Blue lips are a sign of poor oxygenation, often from cold exposure, respiratory distress, or circulatory problems.
The medical term is cyanosis.
Blue lips can signal a medical emergency: The child's blue lips told us something was seriously wrong.
Figuratively, someone with blue lips has been out in the cold too long: We came inside with blue lips and numb fingers.
