blow off valve
Turbo pressure vent
A blow off valve is a pressure-release mechanism in turbocharged engines that vents excess air when the throttle closes suddenly.
Without it, the compressed air would back up into the turbocharger, causing damaging surge.
Aftermarket blow off valves often produce a distinctive whooshing or chirping sound prized by car enthusiasts: You can hear his blow off valve from a block away.
