bitewing
Mouth film type
A bitewing is a dental X-ray taken while the patient bites down on a tab that holds the film in place.
The technique captures both upper and lower teeth in a single image, revealing cavities between teeth and bone loss that visual examination might miss: The dentist ordered bitewings to check for decay.
