bit bucket
Where files vanish
A bit bucket is an imaginary container where discarded digital data goes—the computing equivalent of a trash can or black hole.
When data is sent to the bit bucket, it's permanently lost or ignored: Those error messages just go to the bit bucket.
The term originated in programming culture and remains common in technical discussions about data that gets thrown away rather than stored or processed.
