bioinspiration
Learning from organisms
Bioinspiration is the practice of drawing design ideas from biological systems.
Engineers study how geckos climb walls, how lotus leaves repel water, or how bird wings handle turbulence, then apply those principles to human technology: The swimsuit's texture came from bioinspiration—shark skin.
