binary gender
Male-female division only
Binary gender is the classification of people into two distinct categories—male and female—based on biological sex or social role.
The term typically appears in discussions that question or critique this division: Binary gender doesn't account for intersex or nonbinary people.
Those who view gender as a spectrum consider the binary an oversimplification.
