big sister
Older female relative
A big sister is an older sister—a female sibling born before you.
The term extends to any older girl or woman who takes on a protective, nurturing, or mentoring role: She was like a big sister to me growing up.
Big Sisters is also a youth mentorship organization pairing adult women with younger girls.
