sib

Shared-parent relative, briefly

Sib is informal for sibling—a brother or sister.

The word appears in casual speech and writing: I have three sibs.

In genetics and anthropology, sib sometimes takes on more technical meanings related to kinship groups, but everyday use simply shortens sibling.
