belly rub

Canine bliss trigger

A belly rub is the act of rubbing or stroking an animal's belly, typically a dog lying on its back in a posture of trust and submission.

Dogs often solicit belly rubs by rolling over and exposing their underside: She flopped down and demanded a belly rub.

The term occasionally extends to humans in playful or affectionate contexts.
