beaver pond
Rodent-made wetland
A beaver pond is a body of water created when beavers dam a stream or creek, flooding the area behind their dam.
These ponds provide habitat for the beavers and many other species.
The term sometimes extends to any small woodland pond, whether beaver-made or not: We spotted herons at the beaver pond.
