batch file

Automated command sequence

A batch file is a text file containing a sequence of commands that run automatically when executed, eliminating the need to type each command separately.

In Windows, batch files use the .bat extension and contain DOS or command-line instructions: I wrote a batch file to back up my documents every night.

The concept extends to any script that processes commands in batches rather than interactively.
