goto

Labeled jump instruction

Goto is a programming command that jumps execution to a labeled point in code, bypassing normal sequential flow.

Once common, goto fell out of favor as structured programming rose—Edsger Dijkstra's 1968 essay "Go To Statement Considered Harmful" made it infamous.

Modern languages discourage or omit it, though it persists in C and assembly.

The spaghetti code was full of gotos.
