bass guitars
Four-stringed rhythm instruments
Bass guitars are electric or acoustic guitars designed to produce lower-pitched tones, typically with four thick strings tuned an octave below a standard guitar.
The electric bass guitar largely replaced the upright double bass in popular music, providing the rhythmic and harmonic foundation in rock, jazz, and funk: She plays bass guitar in a punk band.
Often shortened to simply bass.
