Rickenbacker

WWI combat pilot

Rickenbacker is a brand of electric guitars and basses, distinctive for their jangly, chiming tone.

The company's instruments became iconic through 1960s British Invasion bands—the Beatles and the Byrds made the Rickenbacker twelve-string sound synonymous with that era: He bought a vintage Rickenbacker to get that Beatles tone.

The name comes from Adolph Rickenbacker, a Swiss immigrant who cofounded the company.
