baserunning
Stealing and sliding
Baserunning is the skill and strategy of advancing around the bases in baseball or softball.
Good baserunning involves reading pitchers, timing leads, knowing when to steal, and making smart decisions about whether to advance on batted balls: Their baserunning cost them two runs in the seventh.
A baserunner who excels at this is said to have good baserunning instincts.
