baseball diamonds
Where innings happen
A baseball diamond is the infield of a baseball field—the square area formed by the four bases, rotated 45 degrees so it appears diamond-shaped from above.
The term extends to the entire playing field: There are three baseball diamonds in the park.
The diamond shape gives the game its distinctive geometry, with the pitcher's mound at center and bases at each corner.
