barkers
Loud carnival workers
Barkers are people who stand outside establishments calling out to attract customers—historically at carnival sideshows, now at strip clubs or tourist traps: The barkers on the boardwalk tried to lure us into every shop.
The term extends to dogs, since barking is what they do.
In British slang, barkers are pistols.
