backward roll
Over-the-shoulder flip
A backward roll is a gymnastics movement where you roll from sitting or crouching onto your back and over your head, ending in your starting position facing the opposite direction.
It's a fundamental skill taught early in gymnastics training: The kids practiced backward rolls on the mat.
