automatization
Converting to autopilot
Automatization is the process of making something automatic—particularly the psychological shift from deliberate, conscious effort to effortless, unconscious performance.
When you first learn to drive, every action requires attention; through automatization, those actions become second nature.
The term appears in psychology and skill-acquisition research more than in general usage, where automation is preferred for mechanical or industrial processes.
