auto save
Progress preservation feature
Auto save is a software feature that automatically saves your work at regular intervals, protecting against data loss from crashes, power failures, or forgotten manual saves.
Most word processors, spreadsheets, and creative applications include auto save: I lost nothing when my laptop died—auto save had my back.
Also written autosave.
