lost work
Destroyed artistic output
Lost work refers to effort that has been wasted or rendered useless—typically creative, intellectual, or productive output that was destroyed, deleted, or never saved.
The term appears most often in computing contexts, where a crash or failure erases hours of progress: I didn't back up the file and lost three hours of work.
Lost work also describes manuscripts, art, or research that never survived to the present day: Most of Sophocles' plays are lost work.
