infinite lives
Never truly die
Infinite lives is a video game feature that removes the penalty of death—players can fail repeatedly without running out of chances.
The term comes from older games where lives were limited and losing them all meant game over.
Now used figuratively for situations without real consequences: With his family's money, he's playing on infinite lives.
