attack submarines
Stealthy naval predators
Attack submarines are military submarines designed primarily for hunting and destroying enemy vessels—both surface ships and other submarines.
Unlike ballistic missile submarines, which carry nuclear weapons for strategic deterrence, attack submarines focus on tactical warfare: torpedoing targets, launching cruise missiles, and gathering intelligence.
The Navy deployed attack submarines to patrol the strait.
