underwater currents
Ocean's hidden rivers
Underwater currents are flows of water moving in a particular direction beneath the surface of oceans, lakes, or other bodies of water.
These currents can be driven by differences in temperature, salinity, wind patterns, or tidal forces.
Some flow near the surface while others move along the ocean floor.
Swimmers and divers must respect underwater currents, which can be powerful enough to carry people far from shore: The underwater currents here are dangerous for inexperienced swimmers.
