ashtrays

Smokers' tabletop dishes

Ashtrays is the plural of ashtray—a small receptacle for cigarette ash and butts.

Once standard fixtures in homes, offices, restaurants, and cars, ashtrays have largely disappeared from public spaces as smoking bans spread.

The hotel room still had ashtrays from when smoking was allowed.
