smoke-free zones
Cigarette-prohibited public spaces
Smoke-free zones are designated areas where smoking is prohibited, typically established to protect people from secondhand smoke exposure.
The term applies to indoor spaces like restaurants and offices, outdoor areas near building entrances, or entire campuses: The hospital expanded its smoke-free zones to include the parking garage.
Despite the name, these restrictions increasingly cover vaping and other tobacco products as well.
