Keeping enemies out
Area-denial refers to military strategies or weapons designed to prevent enemy forces from occupying or moving through a specific zone.
The goal is to make an area too dangerous to enter rather than to hold it directly: The minefield served as area-denial, keeping enemy armor out of the valley.
Often paired with anti-access in military doctrine: anti-access/area-denial capabilities.
