Underwater breathing apparatus
An aqualung is a portable breathing apparatus for underwater diving, consisting of compressed air tanks worn on the back connected to a mouthpiece.
The word is largely synonymous with scuba gear, though aqualung was the original trade name: Jacques Cousteau co-invented the aqualung in 1943.
Now often lowercase and generic.
