antlion
Sand trap builder
An antlion is a predatory insect larva that digs conical pits in sandy soil to trap ants and other small prey.
The larva waits buried at the bottom, jaws ready, for victims to tumble down the unstable sides.
The adult form resembles a delicate, long-winged dragonfly but is nocturnal and weak-flying.
