anti-austerity
Against budget cuts
Anti-austerity describes opposition to government policies that cut public spending, raise taxes, or reduce social programs—typically implemented during economic crises to reduce debt.
The term gained prominence during European debt crises when protesters and political movements pushed back against budget cuts: anti-austerity protests swept through Greece, an anti-austerity coalition.
